The Lithuanian Sea Museum

The Lithuanian Sea museum is located in Kopgalis, the northernmost point of the Curonian Spit. Built in the second half of XIX century, but renovated, sea fortress houses aquarium and sea nature exhibitions. In the pools surrounding the aquarium building sea birds and mammals are accommodated. In casemates under the slopes of the fortress the navigation history exhibition is displayed.

An ethnographic fisherman’s farmstead has been built on the shore of the Curonian Lagoon at the place where the old fishermen village Kopgalis used to stand. Next to the farmstead is a ground with fishing vessels that gave a start to industrial fishery in Lithuania.

The dolphinarium in Klaipeda was opened in 1994. It is the only dolphinarium in the Eastern Baltic region, which makes Lithuanian Sea Museum the unique water world exploring centre.
