Maritime Paintings & Drawings

The themes of maritime painting, as we know today, mainly resulted from the 19th Century - the final century of sailing ships. Among the genre scenes, there are pictures showing portrayed persons as Admirals or Captains; paintings of naval battles, shipwrecks and naval parades as well as passing glorious adventures in which whaling always plays an important role.
